
Introduction
The DVA Gold Card provides the highest level of healthcare coverage for veterans. It allows access to treatment for all medical conditions, whether or not they are service-related. It also provides support for dependants and war widow(er)s under certain conditions. It is issued as a recognition of significant service or severe service-related impairment.
Veteran Gold Card Benefits
Eligibility
You may be eligible for a Gold Card if you:
- Have qualifying service (e.g. WWII, Vietnam War, peacekeeping, hazardous service)
- Receive a Disability Compensation Payment at the special rate (also known as the TPI or 100% rate)
- Are a war widow or widower
- Are the dependent child of a deceased veteran under certain conditions
- Are a former member of the ADF or still serving (in some cases)
- Need mental health treatment, regardless of whether the condition is service-related

Covers all clinically necessary healthcare, regardless of the cause of the condition.

- Public and private hospital treatment
- Allied health services (e.g. physio, psychology, podiatry)
- Pharmaceutical benefits
- Optical and dental care
- Community nursing and home support
- Access to the Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) program and household services
